Whitewater

We ventured over to Whitewater State Park for some camping this weekend!! Little did we know all the adventures we would have.

We handled a fox snake, caught tadpoles, discovered dragonflies, observed brook trout, held inch worms, spotted turtles and wild birds.

A naturalist at the state park helped us to make walking sticks.

Julianne insisted on being the "leader" for our hikes in the woods.

We relished the natural beauty of these wetlands.

We got lucky with our campsite being high up to see the birds but close to the river to hear the rush of the water all night long. Of course, we had to eat a few smores!

More beauty..

The park was decently accessible but we did carry Claudia up and down a couple sets of stairs, across some rather bumpy roads, and through some water to get where we were headed.

After a little over a mile of uphill hiking we came upon this treasure of a home built in the 1850's by a family from Luxembourg. It is mind-boggling to think of these pioneers living out there in the middle of our Minnesota winters.

We opted for the wagon ride back!

Someone was up too late having deep conversations with her daddy!
